Behind the scenes: To power the Bathroom Scout a modular and up to date server infrastructure is used. The JSON web service selects the required toilets out of 2 million locations in a matter of milliseconds. The app displays the found bathrooms on a map or as a list view.
To ensure the highest availability of the web service and to be fully functional even when one data center deals with an outage we provide two independent endpoints. If the app detects that the used endpoint does not answer in time it switches to the second – without the user even noticing.
